More than 105 high school journalism students representing DoDEA-Pacific schools across Japan, Okinawa, Guam, and Korea gathered at Dragon Hill Lodge in Yongsan, Seoul for the annual Far East Journalism Conference Oct. 27–30, 2025.
Learning Takes Flight: Yokosuka Middle School Students Experience a Virtual Tour with the Silent Wings Museum
As part of an immersive Project Based Learning (PBL) unit, 5th grade students in Ms. Besco’s class at Yokosuka Middle School recently embarked on a virtual journey through history, exploring ciphers, codes, and military stealth tactics. Their destination: the Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, Texas.

National Reading Month
DoDEA joins the National Education Association and schools across the nation in celebrating Read Across America on March 2nd and all year long to help motivate kids to read, bring the joys of reading to students of all ages, and make all children feel valued and welcome.
Music in Our Schools Month
DoDEA joins the National Association for Music Education and schools across the nation in celebrating Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) in March. The purpose of recognizing MIOSM in DoDEA is to highlight and advocate for music programs in our schools.

DoDEA Career and Technical Education Month
DoDEA celebrates CTE Month every February as a reminder to students that Career and Technical Education programs are available to all those who want to pursue a college education; enlist in the military; or enter directly into the workforce.
